This publication initially appeared in 1986 under the dual title of N.S.W.G.R Allotment Lists 1964-1973 (the transition years). it has been out of print for many years, yet there is a continuing demand for secondhand copies because of the information it contains. The opportunity has now been taken to produce an expanded edition, incorporating two additional lists – Locomotives “On the Books” and Locomotive Allotment List as at 1st January 1950 (immediately prior to the completion of Western Line electrification to Lithgow/Bowenfels in 1957). Also Locomotive Allotment List as at 1st January 1960 (just before the electrification of the Short North as far as Gosford).
