INTRODUCTION
Dear reader, many are the stories about the old Ghan. Some are in beautiful photographic form and some are in much detail, especially when the author has access to records. However, there are not many stories about the men who actually worked or drove trains on or over the old Ghan track. So I guess that I could claim to be one of the few drivers left who for many years, 37 years in all (1937-1974), worked the North Line (The Ghan Line as it is now called).
