Description
Optical fibres are made from acrylic plastics, the solid case is coated with a thin layer of clean plastic which provides an internal reflective surface. A light source at one end of the fibre will be transmitted along the fibre, around curves.
Whilst small bulbs can be used as a light source (be careful of heat build up in a model) a LED is a better alternative. They are available in red, green, yellow, orange, blue, and white, and operate on 1.2 to 1.5 volts.
Being acrylic, ends may be carefully cut with side cutters, blades, etc.
