Welcome to the fifth volume of ‘NR Class – an Early history’. As the NR class locomotive continues to make Australian rail history I would like to think that the NR books are not only recording recent rail history but are also making their own history. Thanks to Steve McNicol’s vision and support the fifth volume has been published. Thus a record is now available of the early histories of ninety members of a one hundred and twenty numerically strong class. Fifteen to twenty years down the track how important will be that record?
